Graham can’t wait to get In2 the GT action

-

STAMFORDHAM-BASED racing driver Matthew Graham will return to the British GT championship for 2017 on the eve of the new season - after agreeing a deal with new team In2racing in the series GT4 category.

The 20-year-old former world under18 karting championship switched to GTs in 2016 from single-seat racing and after finishing fifth in the championship in his inaugural season is hopeful of an even stronger showing this year.

Joining the team from Stratford-uponAvon, Graham will spend the year racing a McLaren 570S alongside York-based gentleman racer Marcus Hoggarth in a pro-am pairing which will be confident of a successful campaign.

Graham completed his first season with four podium finishes from seven classified results while consistent scoring allowed Hoggarth to finish one place higher in fourth.

It is a line-up which has Graham eagerly anticipating this weekend’s first round of the championship at the Oulton Park circuit in Cheshire.

He said: “It is great to be able to be back out in GT4 in this year’s British GT and I am really looking forward to the first round over Easter.

“It has been a long winter not knowing if it was going to be possible to return with budgets coming up short, so agreeing a season with In2racing is fantastic and I cannot wait to get started.

“They have a huge amount of experience from other racing series.

“Working alongside Marcus I am paired with one of the best bronze drivers on the grid and I am looking forward to working with them all.”

Nick Dudfield, In2racing team principal said: “In2Racing are pleased to finalise our line-up for 2017.

“We have had an eye of Matty from his BRDC F4 Days and are pleased we now have the chance to work with a very bright young talent with proven GT4 experience who will compliment Marcus in a what should be a strong line-up.”

The first round of the 2017 British GT championship sees two hour-long races take place at Oulton Park on Easter Monday.
