Paw-fect idea, no bones about it

SIMON DUKE PREVIEWS THE OPENING OF A VENUE WHERE SIX FRIENDLY POOCHES WILL BRING SMILES TO DINERS’ FACES

-

THE Newcastle city centre street is already home to a cat cafe and the felines will soon be joined by some canines as a dog version gets ready to open on Pudding Chare.

Mog on the Tyne has proved to be massively popular since opening two years ago, with queues regularly forming outside as both locals and tourists wait to enjoy a quick bite to eat in the company of a host of cats.

Now there are six little dogs being lined up to welcome customers when Dog and Scone opens its doors soon. The name is of course a play on words of Dog and Bone but is also relying on people pronouncing scone in a more refined way – ‘sc-oh-ne.’

Giving a teaser of what to expect, the Dog and Scone website reads ‘Dog cafes are public spaces where people can pay for a drink and some food with dogs around.

‘We want to bring this special experience to the UK, and more specifically, we want to bring it to Newcastle.

‘With Cat Paw Cino and Mog on the Tyne already offering Newcastle’s cat-loving residents a place to make feline friends, we’d love to provide this experience for dog lovers too.’

Unlike Mog on the Tyne’s cats, Dog and Scone’s canine cuties will go home after the cafe closes every night.

You’re probably wondering what dogs you can look forward to meeting.

Well wonder no more. You’ll be able to dine in the company of ....
