DEANDRE Yedlin feels that Newcastle United’s home clash with Liverpool is the ideal opportunity to show people that the newly promoted Magpies can handle the heat in the Premier League.

United capitulated at Brighton at the weekend and served up a poor performance which ended their promising run of three consecutive wins.

However, Yedlin is now eager for the next game to come along and hopes to expose some of the gaps in a Liverpool defence that has already leaked 11 goals in the Prem.

The US international told the Chronicle: “We have to move on. It’s about focusing on Liverpool now. We are disappointed about the Brighton result, but we must take the positives. We need to look at the things we did wrong and try to fix them. “That’s something we need to take into the Liverpool game.” Newcastle’s lack of conviction in front of goal cost them dearly against Chris Hughton’s Brighton as they failed to convert one of the 17 shots they produced. Yedlin, however, sees the amount of chances created as a positive and feels it is only a matter of time before United start taking a few of them. Newcastle will also have their options in attack bolstered by the return of Aleksandar Mitrovic who has served a Aleksandar Mitrovic will return after suspension three-match FA ban. He added: “That’s one of the positives you have to take.

“We created 17 shots but we didn’t put them away.

“From a defensive point of view, we need to keep clean sheets.

“That should be the first and most important thing for us.”

And Yedlin says he won’t dwell too much on losing to Brighton as he believes the result proves that most Premier League teams can cause an upset on their day.

With Liverpool look shaky defensively and having a long journey to Russia to face Spartak Moscow in the Champions League, United must seize their chance to beat Jurgen Klopp’s men.

Yedlin said: “Every game is going to be tough and we know that.
