REALITY TV star Scarlett Moffatt and screen veteran Denise Welch are set to go under the hammer – in the name of charity.

The special guests will be auctioned off at the event on Saturday being held in aid of the Tim Lamb Children’s Centre.

The charity, based at the Rising Sun Country Park, in Benton, provides a range of specialist facilities for youngsters with disabilities and additional needs.

Both Denise and I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here winner Scarlett are patrons of the group and the annual ball is their biggest fundraiser.

Last year, the event helped to fund a new extension at the Benton site. Now it is hoped the auction will help to boost the coffers further and pay towards running costs and activities.

Lynn McManus, founder of Pathways 4 All, which runs the centre, said: “We are absolutely delighted and honoured that Denise and Scarlett will be with us.

“They have agreed to be auctioned off and the winners will be able to spend time with the stars. This shows just how much they support the charity.

“The ball is an important fundraiser for us. It helps us support children from all over the North East with any additional needs, disabilities or chronic illness.”

Denise officially opened the centre when it first launched in 2012 and also cut the ribbon of the new extension in March this year.

The site includes soft play areas, a cafe, IT suite, “chill-out” room, teenage zone, parents’ room, crèche, specialist toilets and an outdoor play park.

The ball will be held at The Marriott Gosforth, Newcastle, from 7pm on Saturday. The evening will include entertainment and a raffle with a chance to win a diamond necklace worth more than £1,600.
