ROCKETS Community and Cramlington School Sports Partnership held their annual rugby league festival for year four students in Cramlington.

With 300 children taking part, the day was supported by year eight sporting leaders from Cramlington Learning Village (CLV), who had undergone extensive training in the lead-up to the event.

Starting the day with a coaching carousel, the youngsters then took part in a huge touch rugby festival, and medals were given out to those who admirably represented their school on the day.

Gill Smith of Cramlington School Sports Partnership said: “We love seeing so many children taking part in this festival and everyone had a great time.

“We believe in promoting a healthy lifestyle and we know Cramlington Rockets Community shares that belief.

“The opportunities they provide are always fun and wellorganised and we look forward to working with them again in the near future.”

Rockets Community manager Steve Beaty (right) added: “We really appreciate the help Gill provides making this happen, and also Mr Best at CLV for givng us access to the sporting leaders, who were fantastic again.

“We are very proud of the fact this was a free event which reached so many.

“To see this many children playing rugby league makes us very proud, and there was impressive talent on show across the whole day.

“We would encourage anyone who enjoyed it to come and see us at the Rockets as we are recruiting for the 2018 season.”
