Cutting the cost before Christmas

- By Steve Hughes

SMALL car specialist Suzuki has introduced a range of winter warmers to cut the cost of motoring during the run-up to Christmas.

There are savings of up to £2,500, free finance, insurance included, and a scrappage scheme that pays up to £2,000 for what is technically a load of old scrap.

The deals start with the Suzuki Celerio SZ2 City car that is now available for £90 a month over 48 months with a deposit of £1,945 plus an optional final payment of £2,205 to keep the car. As an alternative, a deposit of £130 can be made followed by 48 monthly payments of £130 and a final payment of £2,200.

The recently introduced Ignis SZ3 costs £11,000 and is available for £160 a month over 48 months with a deposit of £1,210 and an optional final payment of £3,770. The Ignis uses a 1.2-litre Dualjet engine, and comes with air conditioning, DAB radio, half a dozen airbags, rear privacy glass and body-coloured door mirrors as standard. The first year’s insurance and three years’ servicing are also included across the Ignis range when the PCP option is taken up.

The new Swift was launched in June and the 1.0 Boosterjet SZ-T is available on a PCP with free finance and no deposit for £200 a month. This is a 42 month agreement with a final payment of £5,135. The Swift SZ-T has a DAB Radio, air conditioning, Smartphone link display audio, 16-inch alloy wheels and front foglamps.

An extra £22 per month gets the SZ5 manual model. This is a hybrid with keyless entry/start, auto air conditioning, Dual Camera Brake Support and LED Headlights.

Moving up to the Baleno model, there is a saving of £2,000 on the SZ3 version and £1,500 on the SZ-T and SZ5 models when linked to the six per cent PCP agreement.

Taking the SZ3 as an example, a deposit of £810 is required followed by 48 monthly payments of £160 and an optional final payment of £3,645.

For the Vitara 1.6-litre petrol SZ-T 2WD, a £2,850 deposit is required followed by 36 monthly payments of £200 with an optional final payment of £7,485 to keep the car. In the case of the SZ-T Vitara with ALLGRIP or a 1.6-litre diesel engine, the monthly payments increase by £30 together with a small increase in the initial deposit.

Standard kit on the Vitara SZ4 includes seven airbags, 16-inch alloy wheels, DAB Radio with USB and Bluetooth connectivity, cruise control with speed limiter, automatic air conditioning, front and rear electric windows and projector headlamps.

The SZ-T version adds silver 17-inch alloy wheels plus Smartphone Link Audio and Navigation system.

For S-Cross models, there is a £2,500 saving when linked to a PCP that reduces the list price of an SZ4 model from £17,000 to £14,500.

This is with 48 monthly payments of £190 plus a deposit of £2,620 and an optional final payment of £4,790.

Suzuki’s scrappage scheme offers new car buyers up to £2,000 off the price of selected models when they trade in any car registered before the end of 2009 that is pre-Euro 5 emissions standard.
