Community spirit proves great quality

NORTH EAST CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP LEAGUE

-

NORTH Shields Community Christians hold a one-point lead at the top of the Premer Division after inflicting a first defeat of the season on Consett Saint Patrick’s.

Warren Brown fired champions Consett ahead on 63 minutes but an Alan Ewart double on 78 and 84 minutes proved to be enough for the Christians.

Just behind the Christians are Saint Paul’s Ryhope, who triumphed 8-1 at home to Wearside rivals Sunderland Samba.

The match was only five minutes old when Gary Adey scored on his debut for Saint Paul’s.

By the half-hour it was 4-0 with Marc Davison, Paul Brooke and Kieran Davis also netting.

Jordan Hardy pulled a goal back for Samba on the stroke of half-time.

The match, though, was all over by the 75th minute as Davis grabbed his second from the penalty spot and Dale Spence, Callum Sinclair (also on his debut) and Anthony Young also found the net.

Stockton Churches Portrack drew 3-3 with visitors Jesmond Parish Church - Ben Fordsham giving the Tynesiders the lead before the halfhour.

Three minutes later Andrew Brown netted to square the match - but two counters goals in two minutes from Ben Robinson and Ben Forthergill enabled Jesmond to lead 3-1 at the break.

Brown nabbed his second for 3-2 and Lee Twizell levelled with 14 minutes remaining.

Jubilee Church Teesside defeated hosts YAV SIFF 3-1.

The away team took the lead through Danny Oram but Zakaria Bougnouch equalised to make the 1-1 score at the interval.

Anthony Pierson put Jubilee back ahead, Oram then claiming his second to wrap up the points.
