North save the day with a last-gasp Baillie leveller

-

AMBLE St Cuthbert entertained leaders North Sunderland - and would have gained all three points had it not been for an added-ontime goal from North Sunderland.

The home side had the best of the early exchanges and it was no surprise when they took the lead through Brad McClelland.

North Sunderland came out in the second half with more purpose and equalised through Chris Gardner on the hour.

This appeared to fire up St Cuthbert and they regained the lead with McClelland’s second goal of the game.

The home side looked to be heading for all three points until deep into added-on time.

An Amble player was caught in possession in his own penalty area - and the resulting cross ricocheted about the box until it fell to Andrew Baillie and he knocked home the equaliser.

With the leaders dropping points, Tweedmouth Harrow went top on goal difference with a 3-1 victory at Shilbottle.

The visitors took the lead on 20 minutes when good work by Martyn Tait set up Robin Brown.

Tweedmouth Harrow took the game out of the home side’s reach with two goals in quick succession midway through the second period from Jonny Simpson and Brown.

Shilbottle did claim a consolation goal on 80 minutes courtesy of Adam Weightman.

Rothbury maintained their recent good run of form with a 7-3 success at Craster Rovers.

Embleton enjoyed a 2-1 success over Belford, Neil McFall and Michael Kirkhope for Embleton and Mark Dunlop for Belford.
