NORTH East-born Hollywood legend Sir Ridley Scott is editing actor Kevin Spacey out of his latest film following the allegations of predatory sexual behaviour against him.

The movie, All the Money in the World, is about the 1973 kidnapping of oil tycoon John Paul Getty’s teenage grandson.

Spacey plays Getty in the film and according to the magazine Variety had shot about two weeks of footage while there were many scenes in the film where he was the only actor on screen.

They are to be re-shot with Canadian actor Christopher Plummer, who won an Oscar for his role in 2010 comedy Beginners, replacing Spacey.

Experts say the edit could pose a significant challenge to Scott from South Shields.

However he is no stranger to such challenges. During the making of his Oscar winning movie Gladiator one of its stars, Oliver Reed, died and not all his scenes had been filmed.

Scott ingeniously completed the epic movie using a body double for Reed, special effects and computer graphics as well as re-working spare scenes already shot. The release of All the Money in the World is expected to go ahead as planned on December 22. Mark Wahlberg and Michelle Williams, who also star in the film, are expected to take part in the reshooting. The movie has also been withdrawn from the American Film Institute’s (AFI) annual festival in Los Angeles later this month. The thriller had reportedly already been pulled as the closing night screening of the AFI (American Film Institute) Fest on November 16, at the British director’s insistence. The reported move comes after Netflix announced it was cutting ties with Spacey. The claims against the actor span from the mid-1980s to last year. Spacey’s career has nosedived since the first allegation of sexual advances were made by actor Anthony Rapp on October 30. US network Netflix has axed further production of Mr Spacey’s House of Cards drama, the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences announced it would no longer give the actor a special Emmy award, and his agent and publicist dropped him as a client.
