GIANT CROSSOVER

AS crossovers go, this is possibly the most perfect meeting of franchises.

The story of King Kong on Planet of the Apes unfolds in a six part miniseries, set in the aftermath of the 1968 movie.

Determined to protect the apes’ way of life, Dr. Zaius and General Ursus go to the Forbidden Zone to wipe out any trace of Taylor, only to discover the body of Kong.

Written by Ryan Ferrier with art by Carlos Magno, this Boom! Studios release promises to be something special. On sale now priced £3.25.

BEASTLY SUGGESTION

ALIEN Covenant received a lukewarm reception earlier this year, so much so the future of the franchise hangs in the balance.

Nobody is more annoyed by this news than the man who helped to create it – Ridley Scott, left.

But his latest comments on the matter have caused fans dismay – he thinks it’s time to drop the xenomorph. In a roundtable interview he said: “We went to Covenant to perpetuate the idea and re-evolve the universe of the alien, who — I think the beast has almost run out, personally. You’ve got to come in with something else.”

ALEXA, TELL ME A JOKE ...

SO many of us have Amazon’s voice activated assistant Alexa in our homes now, that the BBC has written an experimental comedy drama for it.

The Inspection Chamber is an ‘interactive voice experience’ through which listeners can interact with a story in a new way.

The BBC explains: “The experience begins with a computer called ‘Dave’ explaining that a pair of scientists will soon be inspecting you to try and identify what kind of creature you are. The answers you give shape the direction of the story, influencing the plot and propelling you toward one of a variety of potential endings.”

The Inspection Chamber is available to download now via the Alexa Skill Store.
