Dale devastate Celtic with crazy turnaround

BUT CESTRIA MOVE CLEAR AT TOP OF THE LEAGUE

-

TYNEDALE produced a remarkable comeback away at Farsley Celtic, fighting back from 3-0 down to win 4-3.

Last season’s Southern Division champions took the lead inside 60 seconds, Helen Moreton on target before Danielle Sidebottom quickly doubled the advantage.

A Chelsea Schofield penalty made it 3-0, but before the break Tynedale netted a vital goal as Christine Murray’s fourth goal of the season gave them hope.

From the first whistle in the second period Tynedale attacked relentlessly, searching for a way back into the game.

The visitors were rewarded with two quick goals midway through the half as Siobhan Simpson brought them closer at 3-2, before Megan Watson scored the equaliser.

Both teams created chances as they looked for a winner, before substitute Natasha Wilson became the Tynedale heroine.

It was her powerful shot in the closing stages that beat the keeper, completing the stunning fightback.

Tynedale move up to fourth, but remain six points adrift of leaders Durham Cestria, who became outright front-runners by easing to a resounding 9-0 home win over Wakefield.

Jenny Bitzer opened the scoring after 29 minutes, with Alanah Scott netting twice before the break.

Jessica Hennessy and Sophie Wood both scored within three minutes of the restart before Sophie Hodgson made it 6-0.

Bitzer missed a penalty before top scorer Molly Holder scored her tenth goal of the season eight minutes from time.

Bitzer made amends for her spotkick miss, scoring 60 seconds later, before Sasha Adamson completed the rout two minutes later.

Norton & Stockton Ancients kept their 100% record, winning 6-1 away against East Yorkshire Carnegie.

Nyci Thorns and Anna Mawston both bagged braces while Vicki Burton and Chelsea Bell were both on target for Ancients.

The club moved into second, above Wallsend BCL on goal difference. Both sides are three points behind the Cestrians, with two games in hand.

Hartlepool United recorded their first Premier Division victory, winning 5-2 away at York City.

Sarah Rowbotham scored twice with Nicola Duckling, Justine Robinson and a Caitlin Bates penalty moving them up to seventh.

A top-of-the-table clash on Sunday sees Durham Cestria make the trip to Wallsend BCL, still boasting a 100% record.

A defeat for Cestria would still keep them top, unless Wallsend can swing a 17-goal difference in their favour. Meanwhile, Tynedale welcome East Yorkshire Carnegie to Kingsley Park.
