Excitement and drama for juniors
THE latest round of games in the Future Energy ECF CVL produced the usual quota of drama and excitement as the season continues to heat up.
In Division One-Under 18s Black Pool, Newcastle East Griffins continue to lead the way on 3-0 but were without a game.
Walbottle Wizards had a solid 37-13 win over Morpeth Kings, while Birtley Phoenix and Westgate Hoopstars White served up a classic which Phoenix edged 41-40.
Early White Pool leaders North Shields Jets are still top but slipped to 3-1 after losing a close one to Tyne Met Tigers 36-41.
Kenton Force showed their power with a 53-18 win over Ryton Rockets.
In Division Two-Under 16s Black Pool, the clash of the two unbeaten sides saw Westgate Hoopstars Black maintain their 100% record and move to 3-0 with a 45-26 defeat of Cramlington Vikings.
Birtley Phoenix had a good 33-20 win over South Tyneside, while Newcastle East Griffins saw off a dogged Ryton Rockets 25-21.
There was only one game in the White Pool, with North Shields Thunder joining Kenton Force on a perfect 3-0 record after they beat Westgate Hoopstars White 28-18.
In Division Three-Under 14s, Westgate Hoopstars result against Ryton Rockets Black was not declared, meaning their 100% Black Pool record is still intact.
The games that were recorded saw Gosforth Goliaths Boys take a 15-7 decision over Cardinal Hornets and Kenton Force beat North Shields 30-21.
In the White Pool, Newcastle East Griffins’ 20-0 forfeit courtesy of Birtley Phoenix took them out to a 3-0 standing, while Ryton Rockets Red had an excellent 45-9 win over Morpeth Raptors.
In Division Four Under-12s Black Pool, soaring South Tyneside’s 27-16 win over North Shields Hurricanes saw them move to a 4-0 record.
Cardinal Hornets also had a good win, seeing off Walbottle Wizards to the tune of 40-4.
The battle continues in the White Pool with Kingsmeadow Royals moving top at the moment on 3-1 after a 17-8 win over Tyne Met Tigers. Kenton Force are on 2-0, with the result of their game against Ryton Rockets still to be declared. Birtley Phoenix picked up a W thanks to their 20-0 forfeit from Gosforth Goliaths.
