VICKY Pattison has urged people to get involved with the Sunshine Fund’s Christmas Jumper Day to help children with disabilities and special needs.

The I’m A Celeb winner and former Geordie Shore star recorded a video message calling for people to support the charity as they aim is to raise £30,000 over the festive period for a special needs school in Benwell.

The Sunshine Fund fundraises to buy specialist equipment for disabled children in the North East.

And for its Christmas campaign is asking people to wear a festive jumper on December 15 and donate just £2 to the cause.

The Geordie TV personality has thrown her weight behind their efforts to raise funds for Hadrian School in Benwell, which provides specialist education for children with complex needs and severe learning difficulties.

She said: “Please help support the Sunshine Fund’s Christmas appeal.

“They are trying to raise £30 grand before Christmas, which I think is amazing.

“If you want to support their Christmas Jumper Day on December 15, all you have to do is to text ‘SFCA17 £2’ to 70070 to donate. “It’s that easy. Get involved guys!” Supporters of The Sunshine Fund, including patron Vicky and Mincoffs Solicitors, have all gotten on board again and schools, offices, shops, community groups and local organisations are urged to join in the fun and make a difference to these children’s lives.

The school has recently had funding approved to develop a new, fully accessible Rebound Therapy Centre that can be used by all pupils in order to develop their learning and development.

The new centre will be invaluable for the pupils and will address their individual needs, providing them with lifechanging experiences.

And the Fund are calling on you to lend a helping hand on annual Christmas Jumper Day. Anyone can donate £2 and wear their festive best on Friday, December 15.

Lauren Thompson, community fundraiser for The Sunshine Fund, said: ”We always love seeing pictures and videos of Christmas Jumper Days across the North East and this year is no exception.

“We’re hoping the North East gets behind us and supports again this year as all fundraising will be supporting local children with disabilities.

“A small gift of £2 will make a huge difference to the appeal so please do get in touch to register your interest!

“You can reach me at lauren.thompson@trinitymirror.com or 0191 201 6090.”

Dave Robinson, a teacher at Hadrian School, added: “The new playground will give our children a stimulating and exciting place to play.

“The new equipment will give our children the opportunity to develop their physical and social skills on a daily basis.”

Claire Fenwick, marketing and business development manager at Mincoffs Solicitors, said: “The Chronicle Sunshine Fund is very close to our hearts and we are a regular supporter.

“The Christmas Jumper Day is always an easy and fun way to get our staff involved to raise money for this wonderful charity as well as getting us all in the festive spirit!”
