CHUF-fing good party goes down a storm
CITY HOTEL PLAYS HOST TO BRAVE KIDS AND FAMILIES
INSPIRATIONAL youngsters were all smiles as they got into some early festive spirit.
Children who have undergone live-saving heart surgery at Newcastle’s Freeman Hospital were treated to a special day of food and entertainment at one of the city’s newest hotels.
The courageous kids and their families were invited to the hospital’s Children’s Heart Unit Fund’s Christmas party yesterday in recognition of their bravery.
More than 100 children and their relatives attended the Crowne Plaza Hotel, on Newcastle’s Forth Banks, where the enjoyed music, games, food and gifts.
Families could also browse around 20 stalls, including a teddy bear tombola, and get dressed up for a festive picture in a photo booth.
As the afternoon drew to a close, special guest Santa made an appearance and presented each child with a teddy bear and chocolate selection box.
A spokesperson for CHUF said: “This year’s party is sponsored by Crowne Plaza, who are allowing us to use the venue and are providing party food and refreshments for all guests.
“We have also had a photo booth and the CHUF letters donated by Snaparazzi and Coco Luminaire, photography provided free of charge by Mark Savage, characters are attending free of charge from North East Avengers and Be Your Guest, a white light-up dance floor has been donated by Four Star Events and we have had 200 selec-
tion boxes donated by Sainsbury’s.”
Forty volunteers also gave up their time to attend the party and many cartoon characters from Batman to Beauty and the Beast’s Belle also dropped by.
CHUF provides care for children up to 18 years old who need medical or surgical help for conditions involving the heart, lungs and airways.
