-

MORPETH Town came from behind to put last season’s runners-up North Shields out of the Northumberland Senior Cup.

Ben Harmison gave the Robins an early lead, but they were overpowered by the Northern League leaders.

Goals from Keith Graydon, Joe Walton and Liam Henderson secured a 3-2 win for the Highwaymen to send them into the semi-finals, despite Gareth Bainbridge pulling a goal back for the visitors.

And they’ll be joined in the last four by Newcastle Benfield.

Mark Convery’s side secured progress with a 6-5 win on penalties against Team Northumbria after the two sides had shared four goals over 120 minutes.

Shaun Ryder scored twice as Bishop Auckland overcame a determined Heaton Stannington side in the Brooks Mileson Northern League Cup.

The midfielder scored two firsthalf goals and Andrew Johnson added a late third to help the Two-Blues into the Third Round.

Lewis Wood hit a hat-trick for Billingham Synthonia in their Durham Challenge Cup tie against Hartlepool United at Victoria Park.

But that wasn’t enough to help Synners progress, as Pools came out on top in a thrilling 4-3 win against Northern League Division One’s bottom side.

Tom Adeloye scored twice for Pools, with Lewis Hawkins and Josh Hawkes also on the scoresheet.

Peter Jones, Mechack Kanda and Craig Malley got the goals that sent Hebburn Town into the Third Round of the Ernest Armstrong Memorial Cup after a 3-0 home win against Esh Winning.

Elsewhere in the competition, Nathan Plews and Conor Winter both scored twice as Willington secured a 5-2 win over Alnwick Town.

Northallerton Town pushed Blyth AFC all of the way, despite being down to ten men for the entirety of the second half.

Chris Dickinson gave Northallerton a first-half lead, but they had Elliott McGlade sent off before the interval.

John Parker got the hosts back on level terms with six minutes left but it was Northallerton that went through with a 4-3 win.

The Northern League Division Two fixture between Crook Town and West Allotment Celtic was postponed for a second time after the pitch was deemed unplayable by the match official.
