Pair accused of crash death freed on bail

TWO men have appeared in court accused of killing a popular Whitley Bay teenager by dangerous driving.

Harry Cable and Joshua Cherukara are alleged to have caused the death of William Dorey, who was knocked over by a car on May 7 last year.

The accident happened on the A193 The Links, in Whitley Bay, shortly before 10pm.

Cable, 18, of Denholm, in the town, is accused of causing Mr Dorey’s death by dangerous driving in a Vauxhall Corsa, while Cherukara, 20, is alleged to have killed the teen by dangerous driving in a Renault Megane.

Both men appeared at North Tyneside Magistrate­s’ Court for a brief hearing on Friday morning,

Because of the seriousnes­s of the charge, no pleas were taken and the pair spoke only to confirm their names, dates of birth, addresses and nationalit­ies.
