Writing is on the wall for the NHS

-

WHEN the vast majority in this country never go anywhere near a train why do we have to make such a fuss about the cost of tickets? MICHAEL WATTS, Penrith JEREMY Hunt at last apologises for his failure to manage the NHS. He has been in the job for several years now – winter and the ageing population cannot have come as a surprise.

He has been told over and over again that the funding provided by his government is not adequate to deliver a comprehensive service and here is the proof.

We are to have an emergency-only service for the foreseeable future, who knows whether the service we all want will ever be resumed?

Vital operations cancelled now can only push back those scheduled for later in the year, waiting times will get longer.

Only the private sector will benefit from this situation. Despite Jeremy Hunt’s assurances that the private sector plays only a marginal role, in 2016/17 another £3.1bn of health services were privatised.

I think we can all see where this is heading, he gave us a clue in his book several years ago. CAROLE PRICE Hexham
