Six of the best from Higgins as Christians go goal crazy in the cup

NORTH Shields Community Christians romped to an 18-0 League Cup victory over nine-man Colburn Corinthian­s.

The North Yorkshire side managed to survive the first three minutes - than it became a deluge as the Christians raced 7-0 ahead at half-time.

Conor Higgins scored six times, Daniel Bland added four and there were two goals each for Jordan Hinds, Dwayne Murray and James Pentland.

Tom Eastlake and Michael Gardner rounded off the scoring.

Cup holders Saint Paul’s Ryhope defeated last season’s semi-finalists Consett Saint Patrick’s 4-1.

Saint Paul’s led 1-0 at half time and were 3-0 up after 75 minutes - all three goals coming from Daniel Armstrong.

Ryan Mather made it 4-0 in the last five minutes before Jack Malone nabbed a consolatio­n in added on time as the Wearsiders won comfortabl­y.

Last season’s semi-finalists Sunderland Samba lost 5-2 at home to Hillsong Newcastle.

The Wearsiders made a good start when Adubaka Ibrahim struck side 15 minutes.

Amin Kashy equalised after 30 minutes and netted the next two to complete his hat-trick.

Ben Jeffery made the score 4-1 but Nathan Dodd give Sunderland some hope on the 82nd minute only for Evan Holmes to seal the victory for Hillsong.

Axiom FC held a 1-0 half-time lead courtesy of Matthew Jones against Heaton Saints.

On the hour Matthew Haigh equalised for Heaton, but Axiom’s Premier Division started to show in the latter stages as Jamie Dunn nabbed a double sandwiched in between a Chris Homer strike - to gvie the Teessiders a 4-1 verdict.

Also on Teesside, Jubilee Church faced Saint Charles RC Church and in a hectic first 30 inutes as Michael Mayberry put Jubilee in front, Steven Langstaff then equalising.

Five minutes later Jubilee were back in front courtesy of Anthony Pierson, Danny Oram stretching their advantage to 3-1 at half-ime. A goal just after the hour from Tom Martin reduced Jubliee’s lead to 3-2.

In the last 15 minutes Jubilee had their backs to the wall as Saint Charles all but threw the kitchen sink at them.

However, they held firm to clinch a very close and competitiv­e match 3-2
