“I HATE IT WHEN YOU…”

THESE ARE THE THINGS PEOPLE FIND MOST ANNOYING IN THEIR PARTNER

-

A N UNWASHED kitchen plate, hair clogging the bath plug, and an unvacuumed floor might could cost you your relationship.

New research by YouGov shows we care more about our partner being clean and tidy than just about anything else.

The poll saw people across the country asked how they felt about various potentially- annoying things about a partner. They included everything from wildly different intelligence levels to ambitions and sex drive. Some 71 per cent of people said they would feel uncomfortable if a partner was a lot less clean and tidy. That was more than for any other factor. Proving that brains do matter, 53 per cent said having a partner who was a lot less intelligent would make them uncomfortable.

A similar number said they would worry if their other half was much less easygoing.

Beliefs and opinions matter, too, with 41 per cent saying they would be uncomfortable dating a person with opposing political views.

And 39 per cent said they would be bothered if their partner had a lower sex drive.

That seems to be more of a concern for men. Women were more likely to worry about their partner having a higher sex drive than them.

Reassuringly, perhaps, money issues don’t seem to matter as much as we sometimes think they do.

Just eight per cent of people said they were uncomfortable having a partner who earns less money.

To put that in perspective, a similar number said they were uncomfortable having a partner who was much funnier than them. Slightly more people - nine per cent - said they would be bothered by a partner who earned more money than them. The data shows nearly 70 per cent of the public feels comfortable having a partner who is a lot more sexually experienced, while 72 per cent do not mind if their other half is much more physically active.
