Dale will be a real test for Consett

-

NORTHUMBERLAND AND TYNESIDE LEAGUE

A POTENTIAL banana skin awaits Division One leaders Consett tomorrow as they face a testing trip to Tynedale.

The Corbrdge side has experienced mixed results this summer and sits in mid-table.

However, dropped points for Consett there could possibly see them relinquish top spot.

The Durham side leads Swalwell by only two points, the Gateshead outfit at home to relegated Stocksfield tomorrow.

Swalwell could go top if Consett drop bonus points and they take maximum points.

Shotley Bridge hope Consett slip up and can close the gap with a win over Percy Main.

Main are only eight points above the relegation zone and could fall into it should Lintz win tomorrow.

Ashington have a tough trip to Lanchester, who trail the leaders by 44 points.

The Colliers Ashington are in the same boat as Shotley Bridge - their title hopes out of their own hands.

In a big game at the bottom, Ryton host second-bottom Lintz.

Lintz would move out of the drop zone should they secure a much-needed success and would also jump above Ryton.

TOMORROW’S FIXTURES - Division One: Lanchester v Ashington, Newcastle City v Alnmouth and Lesbury, Ryton v Lintz, Shotley Bridge v Percy Main, Swalwell v Stocksfield, Tynedale v Consett.

■■BEDLINGTON could take a huge step to securing promotion from Division Two should they win their home match with rivals Annfield Plain tomorrow.

Defeat for Plain would leave them fighting for the second promotion spot with Morpeth and Leadgate.

Second-placed Morpeth host relegation-threatened Bates Cottages.

The Seaton Delaval side could be relegated if they lose and Cowgate prevail.

Leadgate travel to Greenside, who could go top if the leading two slip up.

TOMORROW’S FIXTURES - Division Two: Bedlington v Annfield Plain, Cowgate v Alnwick, Greenside v Leadgate, Morpeth v Bates Cottages, Seaton Burn v Ponteland, Tillside v Blyth.

■■THERE is a must-win game for Division Three promotion chasers Blagdon Park when they travel to leaders Whickham tomorrow.

Blagdon are 23 points off the second promotion place, while Whickham hold a 11-point advantage over Backworth.
