Trio put on Sunday best with Cup wins

THREE league teams - Bedlington Social Club, Ashington RAOB and Amble Tavern - progressed in the NFA Sunday Cup.

Bedlington won 8-1 at home against Prudhoe Town Sunday.

Joe Moscrop registered a hattrick, Craig Webb scoring twice and further goals courtesy of Adam Harvey, Adam Ord and Michael Angus.

RAOB triumphed 5-2 at Blyth Town Sunday.

Martyn Hepple and Liam Gillesphie scored for the Blyth side, Damien Stevens with four counters for the Buffs and Josh Willis completing the scoring.

Tavern hit double figures at Walker Jubilee. Darren Riddell led the scoring with a hat-trick.

Josh Hay netted twice with the others claimed by Ross Gair, Rob Baker, Ryan Douglas, Connor Leason and Kelvin Flannagan.

In the Premier Division, Newbiggin New Ship defeated Bubbles Ashington 2-1.

Strikes for the Ship came from Lee Warren and Karl Davison, Jordan Lashley for Bubbles.

In Division One, Ashington Town Mortimer were far to strong for visitors the Sun Inn, triumphing 11-2.

Lee Messenger and Andrew Berll celebrated hat-tricks, Michael Grieves with a brace and Liam Thompson, Ryan McKee and Daniel Hartshorn with one each.

Michael Walton claimed both goals for the Sun Inn.

Cambois Club were level at home to Ashington Town Central at halftime - but the Central scored four in the second period without reply thanks to Michael Todd (2), Andrew Pett and Arron Oates.

Cramlingto­n Burton House and The Black Horse had to settle for a point apiece in a 1-1 draw. John Leonard notched for the Burton, Michael Starkie for Black Horse.

■ ON Sunday the two David Crichton Cup finals take place at Ashington FC’s Woodhorn Lane ground.

The under-15s’ decider will be between Wallsend BC and Whitley Bay Sporting Club (10.30).

Then Bedlington Social Club United face Burradon and New Fordley from the Cramlingto­n Sunday League (2.00).

■ IN the NFA Sunday Minor Cup, Blyth United Services will be at home against Cramlingto­n Brockwell Seam from the Cramlingto­n Sunday League on Sunday.
