Parker has Bay title in his pocket
ADAM Parker (off minus 10) won the latest one-day handicapped tournament at Whitley Bay SC, defeating Hartlepool’s Vincent West (off 25) 3-1.
Two 3-0 successes in the top half of the draw against Durham’s Mathew Hudson (off 20) and Wallsend’s Maureen Rowland (off 60) and a 3-1 win over North Shields’ Craig Sexton (off 15) earned Parker his place in the final stages.
Starting in a similar fashion as Parker, a confident West opened up with 3-0 whitewashes against North Shields’ Carl Sexton (off 20) and Blyth’s Andrew Robson (off 20).
He then went on to reach the final by scrambling through a close-fought contest against another Whitley potter Mark Faichen (off five) 3-2.
Matched against a more experienced player and with a 35-points-a-frame start, West easily took the opening frame of the decider 75-36.
From then on the match became a one-horse race.
Parker rattled off a string of runs in the 30s and 40s and the odd 50 to take the next three frames without much reply.
A run of 65 against Brian Hall earned Faichen the highest break of the day award.
Carl Sexton - receiving a 30-point start off John Wears beat the Blyth player 2-0 in the final of the plate.
