Young trio are ready to pledge their futures to the Black Cats

-

JOSH Maja, Lynden Gooch and Denver Hume have indicated they want to sign new contracts at Sunderland, owner Stewart Donald has confirmed.

The Black Cats also expect skipper George Honeyman to make enough appearances to trigger a clause in his deal which will see it extended by another 12 months.

All four academy products are in the final year of their current deals on Wearside. Maja, Gooch, and Hume have all been offered new contracts by the club and Donald says ‘the haggle is on’ with their representatives.

He said: “We have begun conversations, lots of them are with the agents to come back to us, and we would have hoped to have a few of them tied up by now but they are being a little bit slower.

“I think there will be news on those players very shortly. There is a lot of talk around Gooch, Maja and Hume.

“All three have indicated they would like to stay at the club.

“We have put offers to them, we feel they are very good offers.

“The agents are giving us their view of what is a decent offer. So the haggle is on.”

Honeyman’s situation is slightly different in that if he hits a set number of appearances this season his contract will be extended until 2020.

Donald added: “George Honeyman, if he plays ‘X’ amount of games gets an extra year, so I think George is here for next year anyway.”

Two more promising youngsters midfielder Elliot Embleton and goalkeeper Max Stryjek - are out on loan and are also out of contract next summer, Donald saying initial talks wth them have begun.
