Authority probe for doorman

A DOORMAN sacked after allegedly attacking a teenage girl is facing an industry probe.

Footage shot in the “Diamond Strip” nightspot Perdu apparently showed 19-year-old Lauryn Parker being struck by a doorman.

Northumbria Police confirmed it was probing the widely-shared clip.

Now, the Security Industry Authority has confirmed it wants to speak to the bouncer.

The body, which regulates security staff, has the power to strip bouncers of their licence – meaning they can’t legally work the doors.

And a spokesperson said: “We are aware of this incident and have seen the footage. Violent conduct is unacceptable.

“We are working to identify the door supervisor in the footage and, when the licence holder’s identity has been confirmed by a reliable source, such as the police, venue or local authority, we will take appropriate action in accordance with our licensing criteria.”

Newcastle’s Perdu, a former Geordie Shore favourite, sacked the bouncer following an internal investigation.

It followed the Halloween incident which Lauryn claims left her covered in bruises and “scared” to have a night out in Newcastle.

She claims the bouncer struck after she “slipped” on the Collingwood Street nightspot’s stairs.

“I keep thinking it could have been a lot worse,” she told The Chronicle.

Previously, police said: “We can confirm officers are investigating a report of an assault at a premises on Collingwood Street in Newcastle on Wednesday (October 31).

“Enquiries into the report are ongoing and we would ask anyone with information which could assist the investigation to get in touch with police on 101 quoting reference 813 03/11/18.”
