MAMMA MIA! HERE WE GO AGAIN (PG)

IN the sequel to the smash hit musical comedy Mamma Mia!, Amanda Seyfried returns as Sophie Sheridan. She is preparing for the opening of Hotel Bella Donna, aided by manager Fernando (Andy Garcia) and her father Sam (Pierce Brosnan). Her husband Sky (Dominic Cooper) is at work in New York and her two remaining fathers (Colin Firth, Stellan Skarsgard), can’t make it either. Her mother’s best friends (Christine Baranski, Julie Walters) are on hand to allay Sophie’s nerves and encourage her to look to the past for courage. Cue flashbacks to the young Donna (Lily James).

HOTEL ARTEMIS (15)

INTRIGUING dystopian thriller. It’s June 2028 and Los Angeles is a tinderbox of incendiary emotions. Sherman (Sterling K. Brown) and brother Lev (Brian Tyree Henry) orchestrat­e a bank heist, culminatin­g in a gunfight with armed officers. Lev takes a potentiall­y fatal bullet and Sherman rushes his sibling to a secret membership-only hospital for the criminal fraternity called Hotel Artemis run by The Nurse (Jodie Foster) and her hulking assistant (Dave Bautista). When underworld boss The Wolf King (Jeff Goldblum) is unexpected­ly rushed to the hospital by his jittery heir apparent (Zachary Quinto), other patients make a hasty recovery.

THOMAS & FRIENDS: BIG WORLD! BIG ADVENTURES! THE MOVIE (U)

EXTENDED chug down the tracks of the computeran­imated TV series. On the island of Sodor, plucky blue locomotive Thomas (voiced by Josh Hasler) meets racing car Ace (Peter Andre), who is heading to the Senegalese capital Dakar, the starting line for a rally. Ace encourages Thomas to abandon his duties for Sir Topham Hatt (Keith Wickham) and join him. Without saying goodbye to fellow engines Emily (Teresa Gallagher), Gordon (Wickham again), James (Rob Rackstraw) and Percy (Nigel Pilkington), Thomas heads out to sea. He meets African engine Nia (Yvonne Grundy), who reminds Thomas that two sets of wheels are better than one.
