BY CAR
A189 Killingworth Road in both directions closed due to major roadworks between West Farm Avenue and Freeman Road.
BY BUS
Killingworth Road, Gosforth, is closed between South Gosforth Roundabout and West Farm Avenue until (approx) summer 2019 to widen the road. Routes 18, 18A, 38, 54, 218, X7, X8 & X63 are diverted via Four Lane Ends.
St Nicholas Street/High Level Bridge will be closed for reconstruction/resurfacing works. The closure will initially be in place until Monday, however, further closures may be applied depending on works requirements. Buses will be unable to serve stops on Market Street West, Grainger Street southbound, or Castle Garth in Newcastle, or Wellington Street in Gateshead due to the bridge closure. Services will observe stops on Pilgrim Street between Fire Station and Swan House roundabout which replace Castle Garth and Market Street stops.
BY METRO
Chichester platform 2 will be closed until about August 2019, due to signalling constraints in place while building work on the new South Shields interchange takes place. During the closure, if you’d like to travel from Chichester towards Pelaw, board a train from platform 1, travel to South Shields and remain on the train.
BY TRAIN
In order to improve reliability, London North Eastern Railway (LNER) will run an amended timetable.
Engineering work is taking place between Darlington and Newcastle from Sunday evening until Monday morning, closing some lines. For LNER on Sunday, the 22:00 London Kings Cross to Newcastle service will terminate at Darlington. A replacement bus will run from Darlington to Newcastle, calling at Durham. On Monday, the 04:44 Newcastle to London Kings Cross service will start from Darlington at 05:17. For TransPennine Express on Sunday, The 21:24 Liverpool Lime Street to Newcastle service will terminate at York. A replacement bus will run between York and Newcastle. On Monday, The 04:48 Newcastle to Liverpool Lime Street service will start from York. A replacement bus will run from Newcastle at 03:13, calling at Durham, Darlington, Northallerton and Thirsk before connecting with the train at York.
Industrial action by members of the RMT Union will take place every Saturday in November and December. This will have an impact on Northern services.
