Garrity triumphs in testing bout to win award

ANOTHER top 13-bout show between two established amateur clubs at the Lancastrian Suite culminated in a bout for the 60kg North East Development belt between Dunston’s Ethan Garrity and Dan English from the North Road Gym club in Catchgate.

Garrity triumphed in a hard fought bout on a split decision to take the Best Senior award.

Kai Battista was voted Best Junior after another close fought bout with Border City’s Jordan Ryan on a bill staged jointly by Dunston and Leam Lane.

A great card saw Sophie Rogers (Dunston) again impressive with a unanimous win over Billie Denholm (Jonesys) while Tommy Burns, explosive as ever, beat Pearce Booth from the North Road Gym.

Dunston coach Glen Rogers was more than happy with his young boxers Dan McKenzie, Libbie Robinson, and Imogen French who stopped her opponent in the first round.

Leam Lane also had a successful show with two out of three winners.
