Royals and Griffins are two strong
KINGSMEADOW Royals and Newcastle East Griffins both picked up two wins in Pool A of the Eagles Community Foundation Central Venue League’s Under-12 Division.
The Royals triumphed 28-16 over Kenton Force and 22-12 over South Tyneside.
Griffins defeated the same opposition - winning 49-11 against South Tyneside and 19-10 over Force.
In Pool B, two teams won their first games of the season.
Cardinal Hornets Black defeated North Shields Hurricanes 30-15 and Gosforth Goliaths 14-6.
Morpeth Magic overcame the Goliaths 18-10 and the Hurricanes 18-8.
Pool C is more open and featured well-contested games.
Westgate Hoopstars saw off Cardinal Hornets Gold 13-10, Gold bouncing back to account for Cramlington Vikings 10-5.
The Vikings also lost to Ryton Rockets 20-12, who then went down 12-8 to Tyne Met Tigers. ■■THE trailblazers at under-14 level are North Shields, who moved to 6-0 with a 16-12 success over nearest rivals Kenton Force.
They followed this up by impressively defeating Westgate Hoopstars 33-16.
That loss for Force was their first of the campaign but they took their win column to six by just edging out Westgate Hoopstars 29-26 and picking up a 22-11 result against Newcastle East Griffins.
Kingsmeadow Royals battled to an 8-5 victory over Cardinal Hornets while Newcastle East Griffins soared past Walbottle Wizards 72-29.
Tyne Met Tigers lost to Walbottle Wizards 18-17 but beat Cardinal Hornets 17-16.
South Tyneside edged the Gosforth Goliaths 19-18.
Goliaths also went down 23-15 to Kingsmeadow Royals but bounced back well in another close encounter to see off Walbottle Wizards 26-24.
Newcastle East Griffins neatly put aside South Tyneside 21-8, the South Tynesiders coming back well from that setback to tame Tyne Met Tigers 16-11.
