Spartans look to make it five wins in a row against lowly Ashton

- By JEFF BOWRON

BLYTH Spartans will attempt to go nap at Croft Park tomorrow when they host second-bottom Ashton United.

An in-form Blyth are looking to record a fifth straight win, having moved up to 10th in National League North.

The Spartans have also booked their place in the first round of the FA Trophy, where they will travel to either Guiseley or Lancaster.

That is for next weekend – for now, important league points are up for grabs with Blyth four points outside the play-offs.

Manager Alun Armstrong, pictured right, said: “To make it five straight wins would be massive and will maintain the head of steam we hve built up.

“We were not at our best in the last two games but we won 3-1 at Nuneaton and put four goals past Marske in the Trophy.

“We are back among the goals and have climbed up the table but cannot afford to take our foot off the gas.

“Ashton are desperate for points to get them out of the relegation zone but it is a game we must win.

“Like all games at this level it will be hard but if we play to the standards we are capable of we can get the three points.” Ashton head for the North East on the back of one win and four defeats from their last six league outings.

Blyth welcome back defender Nathan Buddle and Lewis Horner but winger Adam Wrightson is struggling to be involved.
