Seaton win to cut gap at top

SEATON Carew closed the gap on Under-14 Premiershi­p leaders Heaton Hawks to just two points thanks to a 5-2 win at Montagu and North Fenham.

Donny Tapping scored a hat-trick and Alex Thompson added a brace.

In Division One, bottom side North Shields Athletic secured their first victory of the season - 4-1 against fourth-placed Ponteland United.

Wideopen took on Walker Central in Division Two and ran away 5-1 winners, moving up to fourth in the process – Cameron Hedley and Lev Kirsopp scoring two goals apiece.

Newcastle West End closed the gap on Division Three leaders Langley Park to eight points after a 4-1 success against Ellington Juniors Liam Wilson and Mabruk Tijani bagging braces.

Division Four leaders Tynemouth United overcame Northburn Wanderers in emphatic fashion, Ollie Joyce on the mark four times.

Second-placed Newcastle East End stayed three points behind following a 6-2 verdict against Tynemouth United Yellows – Bailey Strong with two counters for East End.

Cramlingto­n United Ashington Colliers 4-2.

In Division Five, Whitley Bay and Newcastle Westgate played out a 2-2 draw.

■ THE top two in the Under-15 Premiershi­p defeated were both in action at home – and both secured three points in tight games.

Leaders Whitley Bay Sporting Club beat Heaton Hawks 3-2 – Oliver Cook and Joseph Hands netting for the Hawks.

Newcastle City Milan kept pace with the leaders thanks to a 3-1 result over their sister club Newcastle City Juve – James Robinson, Dillan Short and Karl Wilson the players on target.

In Division One, Walker Central triumphed 6-2 against bottom-of -the-table Newcastle West End.

Whitley Bay Sporting Club saw off hosts Wallsend Boys Club thanks to a brace from Ellis Robertson.

There was just one fixture played in Division Two where Newcastle Blue Star - who are in fourth – defeated fifth-placed hosts Whitley Bay 3-1.

Gary Somerville, Alex Dixon and Elliott Best were on the scoresheet.

Division Four leaders Blyth Rangers were surprising­ly held to a 3-3 draw by mid-table Cramlingto­n Unite Panthers.

Whitley Bay narrowly accounted for Heaton Hawks 2-1.
