Dummett, Kenedy set for recalls

-

RAFA Benitez could bolster the left-hand side of his team with the return of influential senior men Kenedy and Paul Dummett against Wolverhampton Wanderers tomorrow.

The game could also see Jacob Murphy and Christian Atsu drop down to the bench, with Scotland international Matt Ritchie now back from suspension.

However, while Benitez will be without banned Switzerland international Fabian Schar - who picked up his fifth yellow card of the season at Everton - the Toon boss has plenty of options in the heart of his defence.

Jamaal Lascelles made his return at Goodison Park, while Florian Lejeune is pushing for a place on the bench.

Ciaran Clark is also available after not playing since his matchwinning performance at Burnley.

Kenedy (toe) and Dummett (hamstring) both trained on Friday afternoon at Benton but faced further tests today at the final session before the clash with Wolves.

Benitez said today: “Both have been training today.

“So, hopefully, they will be fine for the game.

“We have to decide about the match fitness of Paul.

“Kenedy is fine, he has been training. Hopefully, he can train on Saturday and then he will be available.”

Newcastle look set to be without Karl Darlow again with Freddie Woodman poised to take a place on the bench for the fourth game in a row - although Rob Elliot has also trained.
