The Chronicle

North East’s true champions

- Helen Dalby, Senior Editor & Head of Digital, Reach plc North East.

WELCOME to today’s special souvenir supplement to celebrate our Chronicle Champions of 2018.

Since we first launched this event back in 2012, we’ve shared numerous inspirational stories – and this year is no exception. This event is my personal favourite of all the events we do, as we get the chance not only to share your uplifting stories but also to celebrate some truly remarkable people.

At ChronicleLive and The Chronicle, we pride ourselves on being at the very heart of the community we serve. We are part of the fabric of Tyneside – we love the area, its people and its spirit.

At Wednesday’s event, we celebrated and rewarded the men, women and children in every street who make a difference to people’s lives. Every single one of our nominees who went up to the stage was a winner and a Chronicle Champion.

Of course, these awards could not be possible without the support of our partners – they represent some of our region’s most communityfocused organisations. So, a big thank you to our associate sponsor Blueline Taxis and to our category sponsors Newcastle Building Society, The Banks Group and TSG Marine.

As well as their ongoing support for this event, I’d like to thank them for the time they spent on the judging panel, selecting the evening’s winners.

We hope today’s supplement is a lasting tribute to the commitment, courage and community spirit that makes our region so special.

Enjoy!
