In the spotlight Belsay Hall is enchanting visitors

-

VISITORS to an historic Northumberland hall and gardens are invited to follow a magical light trail to a fairy-tale world this week, in what is promised to be the English Heritage property’s most enchanted event of the year.

Belsay Hall’s famous Himalayan quarry gardens and wooded grounds have been transformed into a spectacular enchanted wonderland, featuring elements from the classic tale of Alice Through the Looking Glass.

Visitors will start their journey by taking a step through the ‘rabbit hole’ and will need to keep their eyes peeled for the Cheshire Cat. They can then take a seat at the Mad Hatters’ Tea Party in order to get a great family photo.

They will also have the chance to treat themselves to a glass of mulled wine, toast a marshmallow over the fire and play the illuminated instrument Illumaphonium, while the little ones can enjoy children’s fairground rides including a children’s toy ride, swing chairs and hook-a-duck.

Visitors are advised to don their winter woollies and book tickets in advance to avoid missing out in the event, which runs from Thursday until Sunday between 4.30pm and 9pm.

A free shuttle bus service from Ponteland Middle School will be in place for this event. Note there is an additional charge for rides and games. For more information and to book visit: www.english-heritage.org.uk and go to the ‘what’s on’ section, or telephone 0844 453 9077.
