INSIDE THE AMBULANCE AT CHRISTMAS W, 8pm

THIS festive edition is just as gruelling as any other – except that some of the paramedics are wearing Santa hats or reindeer antlers, pictured above.

Cameras follow crews from West Midlands Ambulance Service as they work around the clock at Christmas and New Year, one of their busiest and most challenging times.

On every day this week, tonight’s opener begins with Laura and Anna called to help 79-year-old Bernard who has fallen 14ft off a ladder, hitting a wall on the way down. He’s conscious but having chest pains.

Meanwhile, Chris and Aaron are helping Kate, 68, who is in excruciating pain with a suspected hernia. But as they blue light her to hospital, they spot a car on fire and need to check no one is inside before carrying on their journey.

And elsewhere, 14-year-old Tara has fallen on ice on the way to school and needs an X-ray.

FIRST DATES

Channel 4, 10pm

THE First Dates restaurant is packed with characters as usual.

This time we meet Ruth, 71, right, who reveals that she “would hate to meet a man who doesn’t want to have sex”.

Meanwhile, Kazzi, 22, has never had a proper boyfriend and her date Adam is extremely shy, but the pair discover a shared passion for drumming. Will it be enough?

Elsewhere, actor TJ, 40, has been told that he looks like Johnny Depp – we’ll leave you to decide for yourselves. His date with Chanelle gets off to a shaky start when she finds out that he’s been drinking all day and is a little worse for wear.

And Amy, 27, describes her unique dress sense as like that of a “glamorous overgrown toddler who has wandered onto a building site”. Will hula-hoop fanatic Liza be impressed?
