Get Out The Gate wins on his stable debut

Jim Goldie has high hopes for Get Out The Gate on the back of his winning debut for the stable in the British Stallion Studs EBF “National Hunt” Maiden Hurdle at Musselburgh.

Sent off the outsider of the four runners, the former Paul Nicholls inmate was given a very positive ride by Callum Bewley.

The 13-2 chance stayed on strongly to beat Doctor Dex by two and a quarter lengths and set up a return to the Edinburgh track on New Year’s Day.

“He’s a nice horse. Possibly he needs further, so we rode him positively and basically he put them to the sword. He was fit enough first time out and it’s job done,” said Goldie.

“We ran him to find out if the Hogmaneigh Hurdle would be an option, with £30,000 up for grabs that will be a nice prize to aim at with him, then we’ll possibly step him up in trip.

“I think he’ll improve for going further and he’s a scopey horse – chasing will be his game and he’s already won a point-to-point.

“It wasn’t rocket science, we had the most experienced horse, he was rated the highest and yet he was the outsider of four – more fool them!

“We’re hoping he’s got a nice future. We won the Hogmaneigh last year with Sir Chauvelin so it would be nice to win it again.”

Daryl Jacob took his record to five wins from just seven rides at Musselburgh, on Donald McCain’s Liva (11-10 favourite) in the Enjoy The Jumps On Racing UK Introductory Juvenile Hurdle.

Second on his first run over timber at Catterick, his jumping was much slicker as he was another to make all the running.

Ian Williams’ Wolfcatcher effectively won a match after the third runner in the Biggest Ever Jumps Season On Racing UK Chase, My Charity, fell at the first.

Tom O’Brien, in his 50th winner of the season, brought him home 19-lengths clear of Special Prep.

Monsieur Co (5-2) provided Brian Hughes with his customary winner in the two-mile handicap chase.
