CRIMES OF PASSION

SHARON HORGAN AND ROB DELANEY’S TEMPESTUOUS COUPLE ARE BACK, AND BOTH COULD SOON BE ON THE WRONG SIDE OF THE LAW

-

IF ever a show wanted to live up to its title, this comedy from Sharon Horgan and Rob Delaney is doing a great job so far. When we left the couple at the end of series three, Rob (Delaney) had crashed his car after his secret relapse to alcoholism.

The dramatic accident meant that he finally had to confess his drinking to Sharon (Horgan).

As series four kicks off, Rob is facing a judge in a court room. He’s wearing a neck brace and accepts full responsibility for his crime.

But what sentence will the judge choose to dish out?

Meanwhile, Sharon is generally furious with life and being married to a “secret drunk”. Her bad mood leads to her dabbling in a new hobby that is certainly on the wrong side of the law.

And at Rob’s AA meeting, watch out for Corrie’s Julie Hesmondhalgh as Amanda, a woman who definitely recognises him from somewhere.

Other guest stars to watch out for in this series are Chris Noth, Michaela Watkins, David Alan Grier, Nat Faxon, Tobias Menzies and Brian Gleeson.

As ever, there’s comedy misery from Rob’s awful mate Chris (Mark Bonnar), who has a new girlfriend, as well as Chris’s ex Fran (Ashley Jensen), who is getting used to being on her own in her bachelorette pad.

And Horgan has teased the sitcom will be about the reality of sex in a long term relationship.

However it plays out, this comedy remains just as sharp-witted, filthy and funny as ever.
