East are heading in right direction at last

NEWCASTLE East End led, fell behind and then went on to pick up their first points of the season with a 4-2 win at Gosforth Bohemians four of the goals in the second half.

The visitors led courtesy of an own goal after just five minutes, Rowling levelling half an hour later before Spurling put the hosts ahead 20 minutes into the second period.

However, late efforts from Callum Rodgers, sandwiched between a double from Callum Larnmouth, gave East End all three points.

All the goals came in the opening half-hour, efforts from Williams and Connor being cancelled out by Shanley and Murray.

A Max Anderson treble gave Red Row the points at Seaton Burn, David Hewitt replying.

Wallsend Boys Club and Hexham picked up 2-1 home victories over Winlaton Vulcans and Felling Magpies respective­ly.

In the League Cup, Forest Hall saw off New Fordley 4-3, Harry Johnson with two for Hall and Jordan Watson with a brace for the visitors.

Connor Andrews nabbed a double as Blyth Town progressed at the expense of Prudhoe Youth Club, Town winning 3-1.
