Festival to warm the cockles
AN invitation to wave goodbye to the winter sounds inviting – if a little premature – and it comes accompanied with a menu of ale, prosecco, cocktails, whisky, rum, gin and vodka which no doubt will further add to its appeal.
The invite is from Beamish Hall Hotel in County Durham which will be hosting its eighth annual Winter Festival from Friday 25 to Saturday, January 26.
And anyone feeling a touch of the January blues will no doubt find that the two-day boozy affair will help them forget at least about the cold weather while it adds to its winter warmer programme a host of live entertainment.
The Winter Festival will take place in both Beamish Hall and The Stables adjoining it where what it calls its “impressive drinks offering” will include separate prosecco, gin, vodka and rum bars as well as a menu of 30 real ales and 20 ciders from a mix of local breweries and those further afield.
In the hotel’s Monboucher Suite there will be a bigger focus on gin this time around, plus a wide range of vodkas and another addition will be a resident DJ there, adding a disco vibe to the occasion.
Also new for this year will be a dedicated cocktail bar selling winter-themed concoctions alongside classics.
There will be 10 bands playing across the two days with the stage in the hotel’s Winter Gardens hosting the main live performances while a second live stage in The Stables will serve up an alternative and more intimate play-list.
The Stables bar also will be open throughout and the courtyard fire-pits will be adding the ideal backdrop to enjoy a hot toddy, with the hotel message to visitors being: “Join us at the eighth annual festival and wave goodbye to winter in the most splendid fashion.”
