POEM OF THE DAY

The Mighty North Sea

-

When the North Sea trawlers put out to sea

They face great danger it comes with the territory Although our lifeboats do their best to save

Many deep sea fishermen have died in a cold watery grave Drowning or freezing would be their end

No the North Sea is not always a fisherman’s friend Terrible condition which can be unforgiving

As fishermen struggle to make a decent living

The mood of the sea can be very hard to predict

And when deaths occur missing is often the final verdict Having the experience of working in the North Sea

I have seen great waves that terrified me
