Toon legends heading back to relive former glories
NEWCASTLE Legends have announced a whole host of mouthwatering chat shows for the new year, and there are plenty of big names for Toon fans who want to reflect on past glories instead of focusing exclusively on the current depressing state of affairs.
First up is Peter Beardsley on March 15 followed quickly by Colombian extrovert Tino Asprilla on April 7 and then the ‘General’ Rob Lee on April 19, all taking place at the Hilton NewcastleGateshead. In between that is the little matter of Newcastle’s greatest No 9, Alan Shearer, appearing at the Tyne Theatre and Opera House on Westgate Road in the heart of the city.
As the nights draw in and autumn falls, Legends managing director Steve Wraith has put together what he calls his ‘dream event’ which sees the Fantastic Four – Kevin Keegan, Chris Waddle, Peter Beardsley and Terry McDermott – get back together at Dunston’s Lancastrian Suite for the first time since Wor Kev left St James’ Park in a helicopter that balmy May night in 1984.
