BODY FOUND IN BUSINESS PARK POND

A MAN’S body has been found in a pond at the Cobalt Business Park in North Tyneside.

Police confirmed that a body was recovered yesterday following a search operation by the emergency services.

Officers were called to the business park just after 11am after reports were made.

Crews from Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service also assisted in the recovery.

Diving crews using a dinghy could be seen searching a small area of water outside Newcastle Building Society’s offices on Cobalt Park Way.

Several police cars were also in attendance as the area was cordoned off by officers.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene but his death is not thought to be suspicious.

A spokespers­on for Northumbri­a Police said: “At around 11.10am today [January 13], police were called to the Cobalt Business Park in North Tyneside after the body of a man was found in water.

“Emergency services attended and the man was declared dead at the scene.

“Enquiries are ongoing to identify the man and contact his next of kin, however his death is not currently being treated as suspicious.”
