Charity ball proves big success

PROCEEDS TO BE SPLIT BETWEEN CHARITIES

-

A CHARITY ball raised £34,000 to help children in the North East, with the funds raised helping not one but two local charities.

The Signature Charity Ball at Sage Gateshead, hosted by Metro Radio’s Steve and Karen, saw guests treated to a three-course meal and live entertainment on the night.

And the Chronicle Sunshine Fun and Cash for Kids were the two charities to benefit from the event, with the amount raised being split between the two charities, which both help disabled and disadvantaged children in the region.

A spokesman for Signature said: “For the second year running, we have hosted the Signature Charity Ball at the Sage and this year proved to be better than last. We had a fantastic night and would like to say a huge thank you to our sponsors – Aston Martin, Lowes, Grosvenor Casino and Barclays for their continued support. We would also like to thank Metro Radio’s Steve and Karen, who were our brilliant hosts for the night. The evening helped us to raise a huge amount of money for Metro Radio’s Cash For Kids and The Chronicle Sunshine Fund, and we are extremely pleased at how the night turned out.”

And Clare Aitken, corporate fundraiser for the Sunshine Fund, added: “The Sunshine Fund is delighted to have been one of the nominated charities for The Signature

Ball.

“The evening was a pleasure to attend in such an iconic North East venue with superb entertainment and company.

“Signature’s generous donation will make a huge difference to our local children by helping them get the life-changing equipment they need.”
