THIS series follows the stories of six teenagers, all growing up in low income homes and all identified as gifted.
Top students who excel, it examines what it actually takes to be successful, especially when facing problems at home. Is their talent enough for them to succeed?
Cameras initially followed the teens when they were 13 and 14. Now we rejoin them a year later as they continue the path towards taking their GCSEs.
They include Liam, 14, from Newcastle, who has dreams of being a doctor, despite no one in his family having ever been to university.
Meanwhile, Jamarley, 15, from London, is taking his music GCSE a year early, but there are family issues to contend with. His dad Winston has just been caught in the crossfire of a drive-by shooting in Jamaica.
Elsewhere, Kian, 15, from Hartlepool, is going for the role of head boy because he “was bored” but there are concerns about possible bullying.
GRENFELL: DID THE FIRE BRIGADE FAIL?
Channel 4, 8pm
WHEN a fire broke out in Grenfell Tower on June 14, 2017, it was devastating, killing 72 people and injuring many more. It was the deadliest structural fire in the UK for nearly three decades.
Emergency services rushed to the scene, with 223 people managing to escape the inferno, which blazed for around 60 hours before finally being extinguished.
But the Grenfell residents who were in danger had intially been told to stay put by the London Fire Brigade – the policy remained in place for two hours.
Dispatches investigates whether this decision contributed to the high death toll.
Through interviews with survivors and firefighters, and using critical new evidence released by the public inquiry, this programme explores whether a lack of training meant firefighters were ill-equipped to cope with a fire of this kind.
The LFB commissioner Dany Cotton says she “wouldn’t change anything” about her Brigade’s response on the night. But could more have been done?
