Outrage to cause a stir at Newcastle

-

OUTRAGE can cause a stir to the opposition by sprinting to victory in the Betway Heed Your Hunch Handicap, the richest race on the card at Newcastle.

Daniel Kubler’s seven-year-old would be breaking new ground, as he has yet to win over six furlongs – but he is a four-time course winner over the minimum trip.

His turn can come this time, as he has gone close on several occasions before and was putting in his best work at the Gosforth Park venue when only beaten a length by Encore D’Or in a better class of race on his latest start.

Avenue Of Stars can light up proceedings by repeating a recent victory over this six furlongs in the Betway Live Casino Handicap.

The six-year-old won in convincing fashion four weeks ago and looked to have a bit in hand. It was not surprising the handicapper raised Karen McLintock’s gelding by 5lb, but he is still able to run at this level.

James Given’s Sister Of The Sign is another who can make a triumphant return to the North East in the Ladbrokes Handicap.

The three-year-old filly had things her own way when getting off the mark on what was her eighth star late last month. With another small field, that could happen again.

The Rebecca Menzies team have shown an eye for a bargain and Tetradrachm can prove the point by winning the Betway Casino Handicap. The son of Holy Roman Emperor was bought as a yearling for 170,000 guineas, but was picked up for just £2,000 by his new connections in December. And in typical Menzies fashion, Tetradrachm got back his purchase price with interest on his stable debut last month.

He was a well-backed favourite to follow up over this course and distance, but things did not go his way and he was only fourth to Royal Cosmic. Tetradrachm is worth a chance to recoup losses.

Larch Hill got his head in front for the first time at Warwick four weeks ago and can follow up for trainer Nigel Twiston-Davies – who also owns him – in the Introducing Racing TV Handicap Hurdle at Carlisle.
