A Silky-smooth CW in a second Cup final

-

SILKSWORTH CW progressed into their second cup final of the season with a 1-0 win against Wolviston in the last four of the Total Sport Alan Hood Charity Cup.

Brandon Alderson grabbed the only goal of the game as his side beat its high-flying opponents for the second time this season.

Sunderland West End will be Silksworth’s opponents in the Durham Trophy decider.

Counters from Rob Hall and Kieron Martin gave them an impressive 2-0 victory at Horden CW in the semi-finals.

Hebburn Town Reserves moved up to second in the table as they came out on top in a titanic South Tyneside derby against Harton and Westoe CW.

A Steven Graham own goal put the Hornets ahead on seven minutes.

However, a stunning volley from Harton captain Jason Pressling looked to have sent the sides into half-time on level-terms.

A Ryan Bolam penalty then gave the visitors a narrow lead at the break and they stretched their advantage to two with a goal from Dylan Nesbitt.

Jermaine Francois pulled one back for Harton with ten minutes left - but they were unable to find an equaliser.

A late Mike Snowdon header helped Hartlepool move up to fifth with a 1-0 home success against Annfield Plain.

Coxhoe Athletic won a league game for only the second time this season as they saw off Darlington RA at Beechfield Park.

Strikes from Dagan Taylor and Stephen Francis put the hosts in control and they held on for the win despite Chris Tarn pulling a goal back on 65 minutes.

A Lewis Martin brace, a Dale Johnson finish and an own goal helped Darlington Town defeat Richmond Town 4-2.

Matty Moffat marked his West Auckland Tunns debut with two goals but could not prevent his new side falling to a 4-2 home defeat against Gateshead Leam Rangers.

Dean Macallum, Dean Kirtley, Anthony Brewis and Sam Manning were on target for the visitors.
