Wood at double to seal Sam result for Christians

NORTH Shields Community Christians defeated Sunderland Samba 3-1 in the Premier Division.

There were no goals in the first half and it took until after the hour for the breakthrou­gh to be made.

Adrian Wood supplied the finish but within five minutes Douglas Hohodzu had tied the match.

Wood fired the Christians back in front again and in the last ten minutes Todd Clarkson notched to wrap up the match.

Stockton Churches Portrack’s march for the title continued with their sixth win in a row - 5-1 against Jesmond Parish Church.

Charlie Inman set them on their way after 20 minutes.

In the second half Ben Robinson put Jesmond back in the game with a bullet of a strike but five minutes later Stockton were awarded a penalty, Dan Rigby giving Stockton the advantage again.

Marc Dawson, Alex Fawcett and Liam Wild then struck as Stockton remained undefeated.

Hillsong Newcastle drew 1-1 at Saint Charles RC Church.

Saints lost their centre-half to a dislocated shoulder after just four minutes - and two minutes into the restart Hillsong capitalise­d from a corner as Ben Jefferies netted.

Substitute Andrew Howes put Saint Charles level on 25 minutes.

Both teams had chances but the match ended in a stalemate.

In Division One, Stockton Salvation Army made the long trip to Blyth Family Church and drew 6-6 - a result which knocked them off top spot.

Ben Backett, Carl Phillips-Dixon, Reece Halliday (3) and Neil Nelson were on the mark for Family Church.

The new leaders are Morpeth Mighty Oaks, who overcame St John’s Snods Edge 3-1.

The first goal came after 35 minutes from Lewis Turnbull.

Blaine Evans made it 2-0 before the hour but Saint John’s pulled themselves back into the match courtesy of Joe Ashworth.

With 20 minutes to go Harry Campbell notched Oaks’ third.

Heaton Saints claimed a 5-2 success over Heaton Saints, Phil Russell with a hat-trick.
