THE BRIT AWARDS

ITV, 8pm

THERE was that moment that Stormzy gave a political shout out in the wake of Grenfell; Liam Gallagher paid tribute to the Manchester terror attack victims; Damon Albarn banged on about Brexit – we think – and this was all just last year.

It goes to prove that anything can, and does, happen at the Brits.

This is the 39th ceremony, broadcasting live from London’s O2 Arena, hosted by Jack Whitehall for the second time.

Leading the pack with four nominations each are Anne-Marie, Dua Lipa and Jess Glynne. George Ezra is not too far behind with three.

We’ve been promised performances from Calvin Harris with Dua Lipa, Sam Smith and Rag’n’Bone Man, Jess Glynne with H.E.R., George Ezra, Jorja Smith, Little Mix, and The 1975.

You can join Clara Amfo and Alice Levine over on ITV2 if you fancy a bit of gossipy red carpet action, as well as interviews with the music megastars.

THE REAL MARIGOLD ON TOUR

BBC1, 9pm

This travel series, loosely billed as a retirement reccy for famous pensioners, is chicken soup for the soul.

There’s something rather calming as we watch the celebs check out life in various parts of the globe.

This time, Paul Nicholas, Sheila Ferguson, Wayne Sleep and Jan Leeming are in Argentina, the home of steak, wine, Tango, passion and perhaps a famous footballer or two.

They are a fun bunch, with old pals Wayne and Sheila reminiscing about their wild party days back in the 70s.

Staying in Buenos Aires, they begin with a late night Tango evening, dancing with the locals into the small hours.

There’s a lovely moment when former Royal Ballet dancer Wayne watches rehearsals at the famous Teatro Colón.

Jan catches a man’s eye during a life drawing class with a nude male model, and there’s still time for shoe shopping, a visit to a university for the elderly and gambling at the races.
