Wizards fail to cast their spell on the Griffins and lose on court
NEWCASTLE East Griffins’ 37-26 win over Walbottle Wizards B moved them closer to the top of the Eagles’ Community Foundation’s Central Venue League and took their record to 3-1.
Wizards’ A team fared better than their colleagues as they overcame Birtley Phoenix 42-36.
Kenton Force’s 37-36 win over Kingsmeadow Royals A kept their unbeaten record intact and moved them clear at the top of the Under-14 Flournoy Division - and on to 5-0.
There were also solid wins for South Tyneside - 33-28 over Newcastle East Griffins A - and North Shields, who were 40-33 victors against Westgate Hoopstars.
Tyne Met Tigers lost their unbeaten record in the Under-14 Defoe Division to Newcastle East Griffins B 36-26 - putting both sides on 4-1 records.
They were joined by Gosforth Goliaths, who defeated Cardinal Hornets 43-24, while Walbottle Wizards edged a tight clash with Kingsmeadow Royals B 39-36.
Under-12 Fletcher Division leaders Kenton Force moved to 10-0 for the season - but only just.
After seeing off Gosforth Goliaths 26-4, they were taken all the way by South Tyneside before just edging through 14-13.
Cardinal Hornets A lost by the narrowest of margins to Newcastle East Griffins - 18-17.
That completed a double for Griffins as their earlier game had also produced a great battle before they eventually overcame Kingsmeadow Royals 11-9.
The Royals bounced back in great style, taking down Tyne Met Tigers 27-3.
At the top of the Under-12s Moses Division there is a big battle developing between North Shields and Tyne Met Tigers B.
They are both now on 9-1 records for the season.
