Are you able to help us spread some happiness?

-

ON Wednesday we celebrated World Kindness Day. From random acts, to a life committed to a cause or simply just being thoughtful to yourself, kindness comes in many forms – and is at the heart of everything we do here at Team Sunshine.

Being such a small team, we rely solely on the support and generosity of you to be able to fund that all-important life-changing equipment to children living with disabilities across the North-East. Be it individuals, organisations, family and friends, your kindness is what continues to help us to help children across the region.

If you would like to join us in celebrating kindness this week, why not help us out as a volunteer in one of our many upcoming exciting events. Volunteers are such a huge driving force for the charity and without them we wouldn’t be able to run so many of our events to support our fundraising efforts.

From our annual ball, Question of Sport event and inspiring Glass Slipper Awards, there is always an evening of glitz and glamour to look forward to at the Sunshine Fund and we need your help to make it happen.

Or perhaps you could donate some of your skills and spend some time in the Sunshine HQ office. We’re a team brimming with ideas and we value any professional skill sets that could help us achieve our fundraising goals.

If you’re retired or studying at university or whether you can give an hour or a day, every week or every year, we value everyone’s time and we know that time really is one of the greatest gifts of all.

Just around the corner we have our festive activities for you to take part in too. Why not visit our website and sign up your school, business or organisation in taking part in our Christmas Jumper Day? On Friday, December 13 we will be kicking off the seasonal celebrations by donning our best festive knits and you’re invited too. It couldn’t be simpler to take part, we will send you details on how you can donate or simply raise awareness of our charity by joining in.

Our Glass Slipper Award nominations will be closing very soon too, so perhaps you could spread some kindness by nominating a remarkable woman in your life. Celebrating inspiring women across the North East we have seven diverse categories to choose, from young achievers to lifetime achievement to an unsung hero and women in the community. Be sure to be quick to nominate on our website before they close, and the panel starts to select the shortlist.

It doesn’t stop there! You could support us by holding your own event or organising your own fundraiser in your community. We love nothing more than hearing about the creative ways you have fundraised for us and sharing your pictures in the column. From bake sales to balls, dress down days to family fun days, we love them all and are always just a phonecall away should you need any support or guidance. We have a little cupboard packed with fundraising supplies so please let us know should you wish to use any collection buckets, banners, t-shirts or sashes for your even t.

Head to thesunshinefund.org to find out how more on how you can volunteer with us, take part and support us, as your kindness is truly invaluable.
