Take a SEAT and help save the environment

-

SEAT has opened the order book for its new all-electric small car, the Mii, with prices starting at just below £20,000.

The Spanish car company says that the fully electric city car marks the first chapter in its electrification programme.

Priced from £19,300 including taxpayer-funded plug-in car grants, the Mii electric is one of the least expensive electric vehicles on offer. It comes with an introductory PCP offer from £200 per month with a £4,400 deposit and an interest rate of about 7% at a time when the bank base rate is three quarters of 1%.

The first 300 private buyers to place an order before January will get a wall box charger fitted at their home, a three-pin home charging cable, three years’ servicing and roadside assistance included.

SEAT’s first all-electric production vehicle also lays the groundwork for future models to join the family, including the all-electric el-Born, plug-in hybrid versions of the Tarraco and Leon and highperformance plug-in hybrid models from CUPRA, including the Formentor and Leon.

The Mii electric’s motor, linked to a single-speed transmission, provides 80bhp of power and 212Nm of torque, meaning the five-door car can reach 30mph from a standstill in 3.9 seconds, although there is no 0-60mph acceleration time.

The 36.8kWh lithium-ion battery pack gives a claimed 160 miles of range on each charge. Rapid charging to 80% takes an hour, while using a 7.2kW home charger takes four hours to reach 80% of fully charged. There is no time figure for a 100% charge, with the last 20% taking the most time.
